Sioux Falls Sports Authority History
The Sioux Falls Sports Authority was formed in 2006 by community leaders to recruit major sporting events to the Sioux Falls area. The organization attracts international, national, regional and state sporting events by operating, leasing and enhancing sports facilities in the Sioux Falls area. It is run by a board of directors made up of 15 community members, an executive director and project director.
The Sioux Falls Sports Authority is an active member of The National Association of Sports Commissions and successfully hosts the Summit League Men’s and Women’s Basketball Tournaments each year, as well as many other events (NCAA, NAIA, Sioux Falls Marathon, etc.).
Through collaborative efforts with community stakeholders, recruit and attract international, national, and regional sporting events, while adding to the economic impact and the international and national exposure, for the greater Sioux Falls area.
